Can I tell you a not-so-secret secret? A new cottage bakery just opened in Seattle called Bunneh Baking started by my lovely friend Rene. Everything is custom and everything is on point. I requested something my Honeybee and I had never had before: a cookie cake. We both grew up in homes that had everything we needed but only some of what we wanted. Cookie cakes just didn’t make the list. It’s a kind of silly thing to bond over, I suppose, but when he told me that it just stuck in my head. I knew that feeling of childhood mall food court longing.
One bite and we were immediately made aware this was no ordinary cookie, this was perfection. We argued between bites what that special something was but ultimately were lost to munching. It was also pretty, decorated with Matt’s special symbol. See? It photographed well, too, but more than anything IT TASTED SO GOOD.
I’m talking about crisp on the edges, soft in the middle with chunks of chocolate interspersed throughout.
Rene also threw in some freebies! Little cookie sandwiches and homemade caramels. They aren’t pictured. They couldn’t be. They were already eaten. Little tiny victims of their own deliciousness.
If you’re in the Seattle-ish Seward Park-ish area, I highly recommend it. Tell Rene Sunshine sent ya!
